Active Environmental Protection –Processing of Soils and Building-Site Wastes

Contaminated soils and building-site wastes can be professionally disposed of or subject to appropriate processing methods. Processing of contaminated soils and construction materials removes environmentally dangerous pollutants and recovers valuable raw materials. In the Federal Republic of Germany, this recycling strategy has steadily gained more and more importance in recent years and makes an active contribution to protecting the environment in times that require saving resources.

DELA GmbH is particularly concerned with processing soils and building-site wastes contaminated with mercury. Large amounts of these wastes occur, for example, whenever chlorine-alkali plants, applying elemental mercury to produce chlorine, are demolished.

DELA GmbH uses the method of revolving-kiln distillation to remove highly toxic mercury from contaminated soils. The residual materials can then either be deposited in landfills or reused in suitable building operations.
