WEEE do it the right way: DELA lamp recycling

Since August 2005, manufacturers have been obliged to take back spent fluorescent tubes and energy saving lamps in Germany, as stipulated in the European Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) and its national counterpart the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG). They are sent for free correct recycling via commercial collection points and public disposal enterprises and should not be placed in the household waste bin or glass recycling system.

Lightcycle In Germany, Lightcycle Retourlogistik und Service GmbH organises the nationwide take-back of old gas discharge lamps via municipal recycling depots and a network of collection points. As a competent and reliable contractual partner to Lightcycle, DELA GmbH is responsible for the collection of these old lamps in several logistical regions in Germany. It then recycles this material on behalf of manufacturer systems LARS and OLAV.

DELA GmbH satisfies all obligations for all areas of the manufacturer take-back system as stipulated in the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG):

Recycling of old lamps independent of the shape and size

The shape-independent and therefore efficient recycling process differentiates between tubular fluorescent lamps and special lamp shapes on the basis of the composition of their glass.
The system engineering therefore also allows pre-crushed fluorescent lamps and production waste from lamp manufacturing processes to be recycled.  Soda lime glass, ferrous fractions, non-ferrous fractions, plastic parts and pure mercury are the residual materials that we recover from the process.
